Our Story
Bogar Enterprises has proudly been manufacturing Trench Mesh Spacers (TMS) in Australia, using high-quality Australian steel, for over 35 years.
TMS, also known as Bogar Clips, were invented to improve and simplify the process of assembling foundation cages. This innovation replaced the older method of using ligatures and tie wire, making the process more efficient and effective.
The development of Trench Mesh Spacers we manufacture today dates back to a time before trench mesh was sold as single lengths of 3- to 5-bar trench mesh. Bill Bogar, the inventor, designer, and patent holder of the first TMS, created it during an era when trench mesh was manually cut from full sheets of reinforcing mesh. By the mid-1980s, mesh manufacturers began producing trench mesh in single lengths, which led to the redesign of the TMS to accommodate this new format.
Initially, the 150mm TMS was introduced. However, as the demand for a wider variety of TMS sizes grew, particularly to suit various foundation depth requirements specified by engineers, the 250mm TMS was added to the market. As demand continued to grow, at least six different depth sizes were needed to match the three different trench mesh sizes available, prompting the development of a manufacturing plant dedicated to meeting these requirements.
Today, millions of TMS are embedded in concrete beneath hundreds of thousands of homes across every state and territory in Australia.
